UTS Geophysics conducts airborne geophysical surveys for a range of environmental applications, including:-
- tailings dam monitoring
- pipeline detection
- UXO detection
- salinity and freshwater mapping
- radioactivity monitoring
These applications generally require ultra-detailed surveying techniques, typically using helicopter- borne systems. A variety of geophysical methods are employed, including electromagnetics, magnetics and radiometrics, often from the same airborne platform.
Repeat surveys provide baseline comparison studies, enabling 4D modelling for incorporation into GIS packages and reports. Typical survey specifications are 10m-50m line spacing, 10m-30m sensor height.
